It is the member libraries’ responsibility to make patrons aware that Superloan access is a privilege which is not to be abused. The borrowing reputation of the Cooperative as a whole depends upon responsible usage by every patron. Every effort should be made to retrieve lost Superloan books. If a book cannot be retrieved, the member library shall be responsible for reimbursing the Cooperative for any charges from the lending library. Refunds will not be made if the book is eventually located and returned.
Books loaned from Lakeland’s member libraries to outside libraries via Superloan shall be governed by the rules and procedures of the OCLC Interlibrary Loan system. When a loaned item becomes overdue, Lakeland will make every effort to either retrieve the item from the borrowing library or collect a replacement fee from the borrowing library. If a replacement fee is collected, the money shall be turned over to the library owning the item. If no replacement fee is collected, there will be no payment to the owning library. Outside libraries that fail to either return or pay for borrowed items will not receive further Superloans from Lakeland.
